Mileage Reimbursement
1. When driving your own vehicle, the standard reimbursement rate per mile takes into account all actual automobile expenses such as fuel and lubrication, towing charges, repairs, replacements, tires and depreciation.
2. Using surface transportation in lieu of air travel:
If advance approval has been obtained, you may use surface transportation for personal reasons even though air travel is the appropriate mode of transportation. The cost of meals and lodging, parking, mileage, tolls, taxis, and ferries incurred while in transit by surface transportation may be reimbursed (meals and lodging are only reimbursable if a minimum of 300 miles a day are driven by the most direct route). However, please be aware that such costs shall not exceed the cost of airfare, based on the lower of the regular coach fare available for the location of travel from a standard commercial air carrier. Your reimbursement for surface transportation will be the equivalent of a flight cost.
3. The current standard mileage rate is $.545.
