Title: Interactions Between Lower-Latitude Oceans and the Arctic

Abstract: In this presentation, I will first introduce the HiLAT-RASM project, which I am leading for the Department of Energy’s Office of Science. Then I will discuss some research that my team has done on the Interactions between lower-latitude oceans and the Arctic Earth system. In particular, I will address the role of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation in shaping Arctic variability; the importance of sea ice and clouds for Bjerknes Compensation; and the importance of Bering Strait throughflow for driving Arctic Earth system variability.
