Position description

The Rignot research group in the Department of Earth System Science, University of California Irvine, seeks to hire a full time (100%) Assistant Researcher. The successful candidate will independently develop research, lead specific projects, and complete research-related tasks including writing proposals, acquisition and processing of remote sensing observations, scientific analysis of ice motion data in Greenland and Antarctica, publish in the peer-reviewed literature, and summarize/present findings at scientific conferences and in lectures to a broad audience.

A Ph.D in a relevant field, evidence of applied research experience, and expertise in satellite remote sensing and cryosphere science are required. Knowledge of satellite radar interferometry processing and analysis is required as well as experience handling large data sets on distributed computer systems. Experience advising postdoctoral fellows, researchers, and graduate and undergraduate students is required; along with experience with research supported by US funding agencies, especially NASA.
