How to Determine DF?
qThe number of degree of freedom
q     = (the number of original observations) – (the number of parameters estimated from the observation)
q
qFor example, the number of degree of freedom for a variance is N-1, where N is the number of the observations.
q
q
q
qIt is because we need to estimate the mean (a parameter) from the observations, in order to calculate the variance.
