Potential Evaporation
qThe potential evaporation is defined as the maximum possible evapotranspiration for the prevailing atmospheric condition.
qPE is the amount of moisture the atmosphere demands based upon its energy status.
qIf there is a higher energy level in the atmosphere, e.g. very high temperature due to intense solar radiation, it demands more moisture from the Earth’s surface.
qIf PE > available evapotranspiration č leads to dry surface
q         PE < available evapotranspiration č leads to runoff.
