Isabella Arzeno Soltero
Postdoc | UCI Coastal Dynamics Lab

Isa earned her Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in 2020, where her dissertation focused on the interactions of oscillatory flow and bathymetry. At UCI, she is leading analyses of tropical seaweed growth.

Kristen A. Davis
PI | UCI Coastal Dynamics Lab

Kristen is an Associate Professor Civil & Envtl. Engineering at UCI and leads the Coastal Dynamics Lab. Her research blends field observations and numerical methods to study circulation in the coastal ocean and implications for ecosystems and human-nature interactions.

Steven J. Davis
PI | UCI Sustainable Systems Analysis Lab

Steve is a Professor in the Dept. of Earth System Science with a joint appointment in Civil & Envtl. Engineering. He researches energy and agricultural systems, the impacts of pollution and environmental change, international trade, and “lock-in” of environmental problems.

Julianne DeAngelo
PhD Student | UCI Sustainable Systems Analysis Lab

Julianne is a PhD student who received her B.S. in Earth System Science at Dartmouth College in 2018. Her research interests include net-zero emissions CO2 emissions and difficult-to-decarbonize industry sectors.

Christina Frieder
Scientist | Southern California Coastal Water Research Project

Christina worked on the ARPA-E funded MACMODS project to develop and implement the MACMODS model. She has since joined the biogeochemistry department of SCCWRP and continues to collaborate actively with the S3 project.

Matt Long
Scientist II | NCAR Climate & Global Dynamics Lab

Matt's research interests include the global carbon cycle, interactions between ocean physics and biology, and global modeling of ocean ecosystems and biogeochemistry.

Erin Mayfield
Postdoc | Princeton University's Andlinger Center

Erin uses tools of engineering and public policy to research complex systems, especially the implications of energy transitions on employment, health, and equity.

Ben Saenz
PI | biota.earth

Ben earned his Ph.D. in Geological and Environmental Science from Stanford University in 2011. He is now the principal contractor of biota.earth where his work focuses on impact-driven projects involving aquatic and climate science.
