Interested in the role of the ocean in the Earth’s climate.
Develops forward and inverse numerical ocean models to analyze tracer observations and make inferences about the ocean’s ability to store and transport heat and carbon.
Current research is directed at quantifying: (i) the rates and pathways of surface-to-surface transport, (ii) global rates of biological nutrient assimilation and organic carbon production; and (iii) oxygen utilization rates and water-mass ventilation rates.

Expert in the role of the ocean in the Earth’s climate, computer modeling and simulation, organic carbon production and the ocean’s ability to store and transport heat and carbon.
