Assistant Professor
Email Address:
Broadly interested in how large-scale atmospheric dynamics influence regional climate and climate extremes, with an eye to climate change and policy applications.
Research tools include a hierarchy of numerical climate models, diverse observations of the earth system, and economics/epidemiology models to quantify climate impacts.
Current research foci include: i) tropical cyclone risks and their projected changes with global warming, ii) controls on regional climate, esp. influence of mountains on precipitation, and iii) health impacts of climate extremes, such as heat waves and tropical cyclones.
Expert in atmospheric and atmosphere-ocean coupled dynamics, tropical meteorology, risk analysis, climate impacts.
Starting at UCI July 2021. Currently recruiting grad students and postdocs--please reach out via email if interested.
