Developing novel statistical and computational techniques to infer biogeochemical fluxes in the ocean. The ocean plays a major role in the global carbon and nutrient cycles; however, our measurements of these processes are extremely sparse. I will use statistical theory to integrate these sparse observations with modern ocean models to ask questions relating to carbon fixation and storage in the global ocean.
