Research areas: 

Atmospheric Chemistry:  Transformation and transport of chemicals throughout the troposphere and stratosphere. Development of new analytical techniques for trace gases, field expeditions, stable isotope studies, and numerical models of global atmospheric photochemistry and transport.

Biogeochemical Cycles:  Ecosystem interactions with the atmosphere and water cycle. Field studies of carbon dioxide exchange across forest canopies, methane emissions from rice paddies, soil/plant/atmosphere interactions, stable isotope studies of trace gas production and consumption. Remote sensing and modeling studies of marine ecosystems and the impact of terrestrial ecosystems on the global water cycle.

Numerical studies of deep ocean circulation, coral stable isotope studies of oceanic variability, coupled atmosphere/ocean simulations of El Nino, analysis of Arctic atmospheric variability, aerosol radiative forcing, remote sensing and global hydrology/climate interactions.
