Exploration Geophysics Graduate Fellowship (Univ of Texas Austin)

Exploration geophysics research at The Jackson School of Geosciences is conducted within the Department of Geological Sciences as well as at both of the school’s major research units, The Bureau of Economic Geology and The Institute for Geophysics.

The Jackson School also collaborates with related research on campus in the Department of Petroleum & Geosystems Engineering and the Texas Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics.

Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program

Learn to teach Earth and Space science in New York City through the Master of Arts in Teaching Urban Residency Program at the American Museum of Natural History; the first urban teacher residency program offered by a museum.

Qualifications: 

MAT applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (30 credits) in Earth Science or a related discipline (e.g., Geology, Meteorology, Oceanography, or Space Science) OR a Bachelor’s with a minimum of 24 credits in Earth Science plus 6 additional credits in Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Biology
  • Minimum GPA of 3.00
  • A signed agreement to seek employment as a teacher in a high-needs New York State public school for at least four years upon graduation
  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Resident
  • Special consideration will be given to individuals with skills/experiences such as the ability to communicate in a second language, in-depth knowledge of social issues, and having lived abroad

Applicants with a previous Education degree will not be considered for the program.

Funding Provided: 

$30,000 stipend over the length of the degree program and health benefits.
Scholarship to cover tuition.
