Communicating Science Training Workshop
We are excited to announce our Communicating Science Training Workshop on Thursday, May 3rd, 1pm-5pm in the Student Center. This workshop will focus on presentation and writing techniques to effectively communicate scientific research in all disciplines. The workshop is interactive and hands-on, led by Dennis Meredith, author of Oxford Press Explaining Research: How to Reach Key Audiences to Advance Your Work. Mr. Meredith has had a long career as a science communicator, including service at MIT, Caltech, Cornell, Duke and the University of Wisconsin.
Graduate Field Work Course in Earth System Science
As you might be aware, this year we used EarthSS 226 (Land Surface Processes) to take the first year graduate students out in the field. The class spent a week at Burns Pinon with Diane Pataki (and guest lecturers), followed by a week here in Croul Hall with Jay Famiglietti. We’re soliciting input from all ESS Grad Students about offering similar opportunities in the future.

Each quarter is devoted to current topics relating to Ecosystems. May be repeated for credit as topics vary.
Prerequisite: Earth System Science 200 or equivalent, or consent of instructor.

Each quarter is devoted to in-depth analysis of a subarea in biogeochemistry which is undergoing rapid development.
